Personal project summer 2024

Inspired by the symbiotic relationship between sea creatures and anemone whereby the anemone provides a protective habitat for the fish in exchange for food, the chair acts as a connector. between the human body and natural materials. The kelp yarn padding is soft and cavernous, enveloping the body of the user like the mouth of the anemone. The plywood “fins” cast slivers of shadows inspired by the tentacles of an anemone swaying in the water. The seashell terrazzo base acts as the adhesive pedal disc, or foot, of the Anemo-Me chair for strength and support.

The Anemo-Me aims to transport users to the feeling of floating on the water, going with the flow and fully absorbing the world around you. The Water method of Taoist meditation teaches users the feeling of floating on the water, going with the flow and fully absorbing the world around you. The Anemo-Me chair does the same. By conforming to the curve of the human body, the chair allows users to be balanced within their own body before undertaking the challenges of the world.
